When the Titanic sank, all sort of people were lost to the sea, and similarly, all sorts of people did make it onto the life boats and survived.
This is the story of some of the survivors.
There is the 18 year old, newly married, woman on her way home from her honeymoon because she's discovered that she's pregnant with her wealthy husband's baby. Hannah O'Brien is also pregnant, and she's on her way to America and a new future. Both of them face raising their babies without their fathers.
Major Richmond Hudson becomes obsessed with the Titanic and spiritualism. And a young Frenchman, uncertain about his ancestry, falls deeply in love with the young American widow.
For all of them and others on their life boat, the future will be very different from what they expected. But when they get together, one year after the disaster, their new lives have started and a new future is beckoning.

What gave this novel extra interest is the fact that Hannah O'Brien really was on the Titanic and really did survive. She is also an ancestor of the author.
