Maria is a single mother with two children who has recently separated from the father of her youngest child and ended a third pregnancy.
Now her life descends into turmoil as someone starts threatening her through letters and sinister jokes.
Afraid for the safety of herself and her children, Maria flees to the house near the sea where she grew up and where her sister Ans still lives.
However, this move does not bring the hoped for safety as her stalker seems to know exactly where she is. As the people around her think Maria is going crazy, the danger continues to grow.
This book didn't really work for me, and once I figured out the supposedly "surprise" ending half way through the story, I skimmed through the rest of the book.
